Add a border or a hanging hole

Quick answer

How do I add a hanging hole?

On Design, open the Layout tab. Switch on Hanging hole under your images. Drag the dashed ring on the preview to move it. On a model file the hole starts off, and the slicer cuts it.

How do I add a border?

On Design, open the Style tab. Switch on Border above Raised print and set its width with the slider. Pick its color under Border color. A color that is not the base color uses one of your Max colors.

The detail

Border. On the Style tab, above Raised print, switch on Border to put a ring along the whole edge of the face. The ring covers the edge of your images, and stacked images share one border. Set its width with Border width, from 1–2 mm. It also goes around the hanging hole.

The border prints in the base color, or in the filament you pick under Border color. A color that is not the base color uses one of your Max colors. On a Free form, the border grows the outline instead, with a wider range. A wide enough border joins loose parts of your image into one piece.

Hanging hole. On the Layout tab, switch on Hanging hole for a key ring, a string or a nail. It is under your images. Drag the dashed ring on the preview to move the hole to where your image leaves room. Set its width with Hole size. The hole always stays a safe distance inside the edge. Setup shows the hole where it is, and you move it on Design.

On a model file, the hole starts off, and your slicer cuts it when it opens the 3MF. Design says how deep the hole goes. A library model that has its own hanger says so, and its hole starts off too. A face with no room for a hole shows the switch off, with a sentence that says why. If the hole cannot go where you put it, a sentence says why. Drag it to a solid part.
