Download and print

Quick answer

Why should I not rename the 3MF?

The filament presets inside a 3MF are tied to its exact filename. A renamed file opens with unnamed presets. Download it again instead.

How do I start a new project?

Press New beside the stage bar, or New project on the download panel. If you click Model after you convert, Filafy asks if you want a new project or to edit this one. Your print stays in My Projects.

The detail

The download panel shows the Printer and Nozzle this conversion used. To change either, change it on the Print setup tab of Design and convert again. Pick the Slicer for this download only, then download. The list holds only the slicers your printer can use, so the two can never disagree. To change the slicers you use, go to Settings → Printer.

Below them, the panel sets how the print is made. Print painted side down sets which face meets the plate. Separate color parts sets whether each color becomes a part of its own. Color depth is how far the color reaches into the face you picked. Each control carries a ? with the rest.

Do not rename the downloaded file. The filament presets inside a 3MF are tied to its exact filename. Renaming it, or letting your browser save a duplicate like “file (1).3mf”, makes the slots fall back to unnamed presets. The colors still load. Re download instead of renaming if it happens.

PNG and layered SVG are there too, for CAD embossing, vinyl work and any pipeline of your own. The PNG is flat artwork in your exact filament colors, and the SVG carries one named layer per filament.

Start the next print. Press New project on the download panel, or New beside the stage bar. If you click Model in the stage bar after you convert, Filafy asks Start a new project, or edit this one? A new project starts with no model and no images. Press Edit this project to pick another model for the same images. Your print stays saved in My Projects.

Print it

  1. Load the spools from the “Filaments to load” list into your printer or AMS. Sync them in your slicer first. That list belongs to the export settings you chose, and its numbers are the slot numbers inside the file. The 3MF maps each Bambu Lab filament to its own preset where your printer has one. Every other slot gets the generic preset for its material. Each slot also carries the exact color swatch, so everything lines up with what is in the machine.
  2. Open the 3MF. The artwork arrives already painted on, the printer and print profile matched to your settings, and the build plate pre selected. Keep the slots in the numbered order shown, since slot 1 goes first and unpainted areas print in it too. A color listed as not printed at this size has no printable area in this export. Leave that spool out. Slice, and print. No tracing, no manual painting.
