Terms of Service
Version 1
Last updated: July 24, 2026
Welcome to Filafy. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Filafy website and web application at https://filafy.app (the "Service"). Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by the Privacy Policy (https://filafy.app/privacy), which is incorporated here by reference.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not create an account or use the Service.
1. WHO WE ARE
Filafy is operated by an individual sole proprietor based in Nova Scotia, Canada (referred to in these Terms as "the developer," "we," "us," or "our").
Filafy is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Bambu Lab, Prusa Research, Apple, Amazon, or any filament manufacturer, slicer vendor, or 3D printer manufacturer whose products, presets, or color data may be referenced within the Service. All such names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify compatible hardware, software, and materials.
You can reach us through the support channel linked within the Service (currently a Discord server) or by using the in-app "Report an issue" tool.
2. WHAT THE SERVICE DOES
Filafy converts images you upload into flat-color, 3D-print-ready artwork restricted to the filament colors you tell us you own. Depending on the options you choose, the Service can:
• generate live previews and rendered results in a range of output styles;
• remove backgrounds or isolate subjects using machine-learning processing that runs on our own server;
• export PNG, SVG, and painted 3MF files, with printer, nozzle, and print-quality presets applied;
• map artwork onto a face of a 3D model you upload;
• maintain a library of the filaments and printers you own.
Supported file formats, supported printers and slicers, output styles, size limits, and other operational parameters are described in the Service and its documentation, and may change at any time. Some features are marked "coming soon" and are not available yet; nothing in the Service or its marketing is a promise that any planned feature will ship.
We may add, change, suspend, or remove features and limits at our discretion.
3. ELIGIBILITY AND ACCOUNTS
Eligibility. You must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction (19 in Nova Scotia), or have the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement.
Registration. Registration may require a valid invite code, depending on whether registration is in invite-only or open mode at the time. We may issue, revoke, or decline to issue invite codes for any reason, and may change registration modes at any time.
Account details. Accounts are identified by email address only. You are responsible for:
• providing an accurate, working email address;
• keeping your password and any two-factor authentication credentials confidential;
• all activity that occurs under your account.
Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorization. We are not liable for any loss arising from unauthorized use of your account.
Two-factor authentication. The Service offers optional time-based one-time-password (TOTP) two-factor authentication. If you enable it and then lose access to your authenticator, you may lose access to your account; recovery is not guaranteed.
Accepting these Terms. You must accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy when you create an account, and we record which version you accepted. If we publish a materially updated version, we may ask you to accept it before you continue using the Service.
4. CREDITS, DONATIONS, AND FUTURE PAID FEATURES
Free monthly credits. Each account receives a number of free conversion credits that refresh monthly, on the 1st at 00:00 GMT. The current allowance and your remaining balance are shown in the Service, and the allowance may change.
• Live previews are always free and never consume credits.
• A conversion consumes a credit when the job is submitted.
• A conversion that fails or is cancelled is refunded and effectively costs nothing.
Donations. The Service includes an optional link to make voluntary donations through a third-party platform ("Buy Me a Coffee"). Donations are entirely voluntary, are handled by that platform under its own terms, are not a purchase of the Service, any feature, or any credits, and are non-refundable. Donating does not entitle you to additional service, support, or capacity.
Future paid credits. We anticipate offering the option to purchase additional conversion credits beyond the free monthly allowance. If and when paid credits become available:
• pricing, payment processing, and refund terms will be presented to you at the point of purchase and will form part of these Terms;
• payments will be handled by a third-party payment processor under its own terms, and we will not store your full payment card details;
• unless stated otherwise at purchase, purchased credits are for your personal use, are non-transferable, and may expire.
Nothing in these Terms obligates us to introduce or maintain paid features.
5. AFFILIATE LINKS AND THIRD-PARTY PURCHASES
The Service displays links to buy filaments and related products from third-party retailers, including per-brand vendor links and a fallback search link to Amazon.
Some of these are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, and through other affiliate arrangements, the developer may earn a commission on qualifying purchases you make after following a link from the Service, at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links may carry a tracking identifier, and the destination retailer may set its own cookies and collect its own data — see the Privacy Policy.
Affiliate relationships do not determine which filaments the Service selects for your image; palette selection is driven by the filaments you tell us you own and by the conversion algorithm. We make no promise that a linked product is the best or cheapest option available.
Purchases are between you and the retailer. We are not a party to those transactions and are not responsible for products, prices, availability, shipping, returns, or the retailer's conduct.
6. YOUR CONTENT AND THE RIGHTS YOU GRANT
"Your Content" means the images, 3D models, filament and printer library selections, project settings, and any other material you upload to or create within the Service.
You keep ownership. As between you and us, you retain all ownership rights in Your Content. We do not claim ownership of it.
License to operate the Service. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, reproduce, and modify Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — for example, decoding and resizing an uploaded image, running background removal, generating previews and outputs, and producing downloadable files. This license exists only so we can run the Service for you, and it ends when the relevant content is deleted (see Section 7 and the Privacy Policy).
We do not use Your Content to train machine-learning models, and we do not sell it. The background-removal model we use is a pre-existing third-party model that runs on our own server; your images are not used to train or fine-tune it and are not sent to any third-party AI service.
Your responsibilities. You represent and warrant that:
• you own Your Content or have all rights and permissions necessary to upload it and have it processed by the Service;
• Your Content, and our processing of it as described here, does not and will not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights, or violate any law;
• Your Content does not contain anything unlawful, and you are not uploading images of identifiable people without any consent required by law.
You are solely responsible for what you upload and for what you do with the outputs you generate — including whether printing, selling, or distributing an output infringes someone else's rights. Converting an image does not create any new right to use it.
7. STORAGE, SAVING, AND RETENTION
The Service is designed so that nothing you convert is stored permanently until you save a project or download a result. In summary:
• Conversion previews are temporary and are automatically deleted a short time after they are generated.
• Session uploads, and per-job copies of uploads and models for jobs you never save, are automatically swept within roughly a day.
• Downloading a result — or queuing a job that promised an email notification — automatically saves the associated project, which retains your uploaded source, any attached model, and the conversion settings so the project can be reopened and re-edited.
• Saved projects are retained for a limited period (currently 30 days) and are then automatically deleted by routine maintenance.
Retention periods are described more fully in the Privacy Policy and may change. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything you want to preserve. Filafy is not a backup or archival service, and we do not guarantee that Your Content will remain available.
8. ACCEPTABLE USE
You agree not to:
• upload or generate content that is unlawful, infringing, or defamatory, or that depicts or facilitates the sexual exploitation or abuse of minors;
• upload content you do not have the right to use, or use the Service to infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights;
• attempt to access the administrative interface, other users' accounts, or any part of the system you are not authorized to access;
• probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach or circumvent any security measure, authentication, rate limit, invite gating, or credit quota;
• interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the Service or its infrastructure, including through automated scraping, bulk conversion, or denial-of-service techniques;
• extract, scrape, or redistribute the filament catalog, presets, or other data sets in the Service as a stand-alone data product;
• resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service itself (as distinct from outputs you legitimately generate) without our permission;
• use the Service to build a competing product by copying it, or reverse-engineer it except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law.
We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend, disable, or terminate access in response.
9. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IN THE SERVICE
The Service itself — including its software, source code, design, branding, the "Filafy" name and logo, and its style implementations — is owned by the developer and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service as intended. They grant you no rights in the Filafy name, logo, or brand assets.
Filament catalog. The filament catalog is derived from a third-party public data source and is re-synced periodically. It is provided for convenience only. We do not warrant that any brand, color, hex value, transmission value, or material property in it is accurate, complete, or current, and the underlying data remains subject to its source's rights and terms.
Printer and slicer presets. Printer, nozzle, and print-quality presets are a best-effort mapping to third-party slicer and printer configurations. They may not match your hardware or your slicer version.
10. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The Service relies on and links to third-party services, which may include a hosting provider, a DNS provider, an email delivery provider, a marketing-email provider, analytics and advertising providers, a donations platform, a community and support platform, affiliate retailers, and (in future) a payment processor. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or their content, and a link is not an endorsement.
11. OUTPUTS, PRINTING, AND HARDWARE SAFETY
No guarantee of results. The Service produces artwork and print files algorithmically. We make no guarantee that any output will be accurate, slice correctly, print successfully, be free of defects, match the colors you expect, or be fit for any particular purpose. Color reproduction depends on your filaments, printer, nozzle, slicer, and settings, all of which are outside our control.
Nozzle and material compatibility. The Service may flag certain filament and nozzle combinations as unsuitable, and may allow you to override those warnings. Abrasive, metal-filled, ceramic-filled, conductive, and other specialty materials can damage hardware, particularly non-hardened nozzles. Any compatibility guidance in the Service is general information, is not exhaustive, and is not a substitute for your printer and filament manufacturers' own documentation.
You are responsible for reviewing outputs before printing, for verifying material and hardware compatibility, and for operating your equipment safely. We are not liable for damage to your printer, nozzle, or other equipment, for wasted filament or materials, or for failed prints. Nothing in the Service is professional, engineering, or safety advice.
12. SERVICE AVAILABILITY
Filafy is provided on a best-effort basis and may be operated as a small independent project. We do not promise any particular uptime, and the Service may be unavailable, interrupted, degraded, or discontinued at any time, with or without notice. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service in whole or in part at any time.
13. SUSPENSION AND TERMINATION
By you. You may stop using the Service at any time, and you can permanently delete your account yourself in Settings. Deletion is immediate and irreversible: your saved projects, uploaded source files and models, filament and printer library, and account details are removed, and any unused credits are forfeited without compensation. We cannot restore a deleted account, so download anything you want to keep first. The Privacy Policy explains what deletion covers and the limited records we may retain afterward.
By us. We may suspend, disable, or terminate your account or access, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service.
Effect. On termination, your right to use the Service ends and any unused credits are forfeited without compensation. We may delete Your Content and account data in accordance with the Privacy Policy and our routine retention practices. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 5, 6, 9, 11, 14, 15, and 17 — will survive.
14. DISCLAIMERS
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that any output will be accurate, printable, or safe for your hardware.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. In those jurisdictions, some of the above exclusions may not apply to you, and you may have rights these Terms cannot limit. Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer rights that cannot be limited by law.
15. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
• The developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, business, wasted filament or materials, or damaged equipment, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
• The developer's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us, if any, for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) twenty Canadian dollars (CAD $20).
These limitations apply regardless of the legal theory on which a claim is based and reflect an allocation of risk that is a fundamental part of the agreement between us. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability; to the extent a limitation is not permitted, it will not apply to you, but will apply to the fullest extent allowed.
16. INDEMNIFICATION
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or related to Your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms — except to the extent caused by our own wrongdoing.
17. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTES
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection laws that apply to you, you agree that the courts located in Nova Scotia, Canada will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
18. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date, and we may notify you in the Service and require you to accept the revised Terms before you continue. Your continued use after the changes take effect means you accept them. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.
19. GENERAL
Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements on that subject.
Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and the unenforceable provision will be applied to the maximum extent permitted.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a transfer of the Service.
No agency. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, employment, joint venture, or agency relationship.
