Pick your printer and spools

The first time you press Continue to Design, a sheet asks for two things: your printer and the filaments you own. You do this one time.

Choose your printer’s brand. Then choose its model. If yours is not there, pick Other, and everything still converts and exports. Then pick your nozzle. 0.4 mm is the common size and a fine default.

Filafy sizes every line, dot and detail for your nozzle, so the nozzle changes what comes out. Each printer keeps its own Max colors, print quality and build plate under Settings → Printer. Printer settings covers it all, including what happens when you own several printers.

Pick your filaments

The sheet then shows the filaments of your printer’s brand, as round swatches in rainbow order. Tap each spool you own. Filafy only ever uses colors from that list, and nothing is ever added for you. Use the brand and line chips to see other filaments, or search for a brand or a color.

A print needs at least two filaments of one material, because one print never mixes materials. Two PLA spools work, but one PLA and one PETG spool do not. Press Save and continue when the sheet says you are ready.

My Filaments holds the whole list, and you can change it there at any time. Find a spool among over 11,900 filaments with the Brand, Material and Type filters or the search box. Only PLA is shown to begin with. Turn on other materials under Settings → Filaments. A hidden material, brand or type stays out of new conversions.

Two spools is the floor, not the target. What you own sets the ceiling on how close a print can get to your image. That is why How close it gets leads with your shelf rather than with a setting.
