Quick answer
Will my model fit on the plate?
Filafy checks a model file against the build volume of your printer, on Setup. A library card shows a warning icon when the model is too big for your default printer. A warning never blocks anything, because your slicer decides.
The detail
Filafy checks a model file against the build volume of the printer you picked, and says so on Setup, before you spend a credit. There are two different warnings, because they are two different problems.
- “Heads up: your model may not fit.” The model itself is bigger than the build volume. It tells you both measurements so you can see by how much.
- “Heads up: no room for the purge tower.” The model fits. But a multi color print also needs a prime or purge tower next to it on the plate. Yours does not leave enough room. It goes by your Max colors budget, not the colors the print ends up using. So it can warn about a tower a print does not need.
- A library card can show a warning icon. The model is larger than the build plate of your default printer. Point to the icon, or tap it, to see which printer.
- On an Anycubic printer or the Snapmaker U1, the same warning is on the download page. It shows when the 3MF has no room to place the tower, for any model. Your slicer then puts the tower where its print profile says.
- A model in several pieces is measured as it was saved. If the file holds separate parts, the size quoted is all of them where the file put them. Arranging them on the plate in your slicer will often make it fit. The warning says so, and you can also export just the part you painted, from the download page.
Neither one blocks anything. Your slicer is the final arbiter, so Filafy warns and gets out of the way. If a printer you own does fit, the warning offers to switch this project to it right there.
