Printer settings

Each printer you own keeps its own settings. Under Settings → Printer, pick a printer to see its nozzle, print quality, build plate and Max colors. Each list shows only the options that printer takes, in its own slicer’s words.
- Nozzle. 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 or 0.8 mm, or the sizes Anycubic gives each Kobra, such as 0.25 mm on the S1. The list shows only your printer’s sizes. This is the setting that changes what comes out. Filafy sizes every line, dot and detail so it actually prints at the nozzle you set. 0.4 mm is the common size; go finer for lettering, fur and foliage, and coarser for a much tougher first layer on big flat panels.
- Print quality. The layer height profile your 3MF opens with. A Bambu Lab printer offers Extra fine down to Draft. An Anycubic printer or the Snapmaker U1 offers the layer heights its slicer has for its nozzle.
- Build plate. Pre selected in the 3MF so the bed temperature follows it, and, because the image prints face down by default, it is also the finish. Each printer offers its own plates. An Anycubic printer has the Textured PEI Plate, the Smooth Plate and the Cool Plate, in the words of Anycubic Slicer Next. The Snapmaker U1 has the textured and the smooth PEI plate, and the Graphic Effect plate for PLA only. The Cool Plate and the Graphic Effect plate need a bed temperature from the slicer for every filament in the print. If one filament has none, the file uses the textured PEI plate, and the Download page tells you.
- Max colors. The most filaments one print may use, anywhere from 2 to 24. A new printer starts low deliberately, so a first print does not need a full shelf.
Max colors is a setting of each printer you own, not of your account. Two of your machines can need different budgets. A four slot machine and a sixteen slot machine are an example. Each keeps its own number, so you do not edit one number every time you switch.
How far the color reaches into the face you picked. It is 0.6 mm out of the box, and adjustable per download. It applies to every download, not just Separate color parts.
